Tutorial for removing Arcylic/Gel Nails!
October 12, 2009
As we all know, I’m one of the biggest fans of 3d nail art ♥
However, in order to have 3d nail art, I must have a large enough surface area on my nail to make a good looking design. So that’s always driven to this dilemma…….. to get false nails, or not to get false nails.
Growing out your nails can be hard, especially for those who do not regularly consume dairy products. We need these nutrients to strengthen our hair, skin and nails.
Advantages
- stronger nails
- better shapes (round/square)
- always looks good without high maintenance (only needs infills once every 2-3 weeks)
- no need to waste money on buying nail polish colours I only like temporarily
- designs stay on for longer
Disadvantages
- could horribly damage your natural nails and leave you to growing the damaged nail for months!
- very expensive on a regular basis especially for designs!
- very time-consuming as you would have to wait for over an hour in the nail salon every time you visit
- nail salons stink!
- nail technicians could sometimes cut the skin around your nail which realllllllllly hurts!
So, after many years of learning to do my own nails, I have finally been able to design my own nails. I basically use arcylic to form a tip, file it down to my desired shape, file file file to flatten and blend with the natural nail, place an overcoat of arcylic/gel, or simply top it off with a clear coat of nail polish, then design design design all I likey :)
Now comes in the hardest bit.. removing the tips when you want to.

At the time I wanted to take it all off cause it was all ruined! Gross!
Things you’ll need are:

Aluminium Foil
+

Pure Acetone
Let’s get started! ♥♥
Step 1. Pour Acetone into a little dish, nail polish cap, any little bowl you could use.

Step 2. Soak your finger into the solution for 2 minutes – one by one – into the cap, like so.

Step 3. Wrap each finger with a piece of foil making sure to cover all areas of the nail. By doing this so will help heat up the acetone on the nail softening the arcylic or gel formula. Leave for maxmium of 15 minutes!

Step 4. Complete the rest of your hand and move onto the other hand! :)

Step 5. When you take off the foil, use the piece to hold your false tip/nail and tug gently. Tug a little harder to see if you can easily take it off. If you can’t, repeat the soaking process and leave foil on for an additional 10 minutes. Keep doing this the arcylic is finally soft enough to peel off.
Coat with a nail strengthener and top coat!

My nails are still long even though I had arcylic tips in and they are also still strong enough to hold their length! ♥

Thanks so much for posting this! I’m planning on removing the tips I put on about a month ago and can’t make it to the salon to take care of it! Definitely bookmarking for future use.
