Shiki Dining
January 10, 2010
On Boxing day, was my mums’ birthday and as a celebration, me and my sister took her to Shiki – one of our favourite japanese restaurants to taste the mouth-watering dishes. We had 6 degustation menu’s altogether and though it was pricey, the delicious dishes were well worth their price.

The amount of food we received on the table was endless and each dish would be better presented than the previous. I could not have asked for a better meal. ♥
Sashimi and Sushi
The best tofu salad ever.
This was one of my favourite dishes. I don’t remember what its called, but it’s fish. The browny-orangey sauce beside it was orgasmic.
How could one leave out the sake? The above was the Sake tasting plate. I loved all.
And to keep our sanity, we had to balance it out with the worlds greatest green tea.
I personally hate the look of lobsters cause they remind me of spiders – but no matter what they look like, they are still one of the tastiest seafood choices out there. You cannot compare lobster with crab. Don’t even try.
Oysters which I had about 4 of, because the boyfriend cannot stand the taste of them. It’s one of the only things I eat more than him of :D
Abalone – soft, rather than chewy = loves.
Waygu beef stone-grilled on the table. I cannot express in any term how fantastic this was. I only wish they would give us some more. The serving size above is for two people!
Heading towards the end, we get tempura – which I’m definitely not a big fan of. It’s just all flour and its deep fried! I’d rather eat hot chips or wedges if I’m going to gain that weight.

The boyfriend took this picture and for some reason, I really like it. And no, it’s not because you can’t see my face.
Love love love ♥
And for the curious, this is what the birthday woman looks like. Still free-of-wrinkles and grey hair.
Our mahjong buddies – my sister and her boyfriend.
The cheeriest dad in the world.
And me – the youngest in the family – the most loved in the family. ♥
The night was a long one. The dishes came out one by one and it was about 2.5 hours into our meal before we knew it and just because we are the world’s craziest party people, we headed home and continued with the previous night’s game of Mahjong. The mahjong nights have continued onto 2010 and does not seem to be coming to an end.

I LOVE Japanese food and I love degustation menus – how did I not know about this before? It looks awesome and I must try it soon. My boyfriend doesn’t like oysters either, but loves mussels – go figure!

i have a question; i have the same bob as you, but how do you style it when you wear extensions? because when i wear extensions now you can clearly see my bob. T_T
WOW it all looks really fantastic!
That food looks amazing!! I love those pictures your bf took too. Maybe because it shows the lovely colour in your hair =)*hearts*
Just a tip, the photo of you and your boyfriend – it’s too obvious you used the liquify tool. Your left arm is uneven/wavy. Even the wall is dented because you were too focused making your arm look skinnier.
haha thanks! i’ll work on my liquidifying skills. i still suck at it =)
