Video: How I remove my makeup

Removing your make up after each day is the most important step of your preparation to sleep.

I wear foundation/powder/BB Cream every single day (working days and weekends) so make up removal is a critical step for me. Many girls seem to confuse “removing make up” with “cleansing face”… both steps are critical.

To end each day, I typically start off with wet wipes to remove my face makeup. I’ve tried a few different brands and you can go with each ever one you think is the most effective for you.

For eyes & lips, I’ve found that Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) has worked the best. It’s pure, natural and removes stubborn waterproof makeup without having to tug onto your skin (which causes wrinkles and aging).

With that, you have completed the steps of “makeup removal”.

Lastly, you must cleanse your face. This means.. removing any remnants of the EVOO or residue from the wet wipes.

By the time I get to this step, I tend to be quite lazy. I feel like I’ve already removed my make up and don’t want to have to double cleanse my face..

This is where.. Clearasil Perfectawash is handy!

With the ease of an on & off switch and a simple touch, Clearasil’s Perfecta Wash automatically dispenses exactly 1.5mL of product to cleanse your face. No more wastage of products when you accidently squeeze out too little or much!

Including the second cleanse in your routine can be frustrating to include but you must include it as a habit.

Konjac (konnyaku) sponge

October 12, 2012 | 5 comments so far - join the discussion!

Sorry for the low res pics, my camera ran out of battery and I really wanted to get this post up!

So I recently purchased a konjac sponge (“konnyaku in japanese”)  from Ebay after seeing it at the Beauty & Spa Expo two months back! I was really intrigued at the texture of the sponge and started to do some research. There are many different konjac sponges and many compare this to the couple of hundred dollar Clarasonic!!!

“Konjac is a perennial herb in aroid family and since ancient times, it has been widely used as a medical and edible natural plant. It is a popular and healthy vegetable in Korea and Japan. Being unbelieably soft and gentle, konjac sponge exfoliates dead cells while wiping the face and body, and leaves behind a colloid film to nourish and protect your skin.” – source

I’ve never had much of a problem with my skin but of course, taking care of your skin is always a must.

The advantages of using a konjac sponge over your palms is that it will help you to deep cleanse areas which your fingers are not able to reach! The konjac sponge is also 100% natural (make sure you do not get a fake one!) and so it’s extremely gentle to your skin – also suitable for sensitive skin!

I got mine in a heart shape from this fellow ebayer for about AU$4.50.

The konjac sponge arrives in a regular plastic packaging with instructions on “how to use”. These instructions were actually rather useful because when you first take out the sponge, it’s hard as rock!!

My face was like literally like.. :O when I took out the sponge. Felt like… a pedicure rock.

You need to run it under water for several minutes prior to use, or you can fill a bowl up with water and leave your sponge in there to absorb.

If you are not a regular make up user, you do not need to put a cleanser over the sponge, but I like to because I need to remove my daily make up. I’ve been using a foam cleanser from The Face Shop. But your regular cleanser is just fine.

Squeeze the excess water out and you are ready to cleanse!!! Be sure you make circles around your face so you can ensure every area has been properly washed. I’ve found that using the konjac sponge has helped me to uselessproduct whilst feeling cleaner!!

Many have been comparing it to the Clarasonic’s rotating cleansing brush which is about $200 for the Mia!!

There are also many alternatives of the Konjac Sponge. I know Sasa also sells one (which is currently out of stock) and many other bloggers have reviewed the Kuu Konjac Sponge which I want to try next.

Have you tried the Konnyaku Sponge and have you replaced it with your Clarasonic brush due to convenience or price?

Bijinsenmon Leg Slimming Mask

August 7, 2012 | 10 comments so far - join the discussion!

Ok so I’m sitting here on my bed and thought “I’m just going to blog on my iPad”. Yes, it sounded like a good idea at first but now that I’m required to type with two fingers and I’ve only typed a paragraph.. I’m too sure I’m keen on doing this too often anymore.

Ok… So I was tweeting just a couple of minutes ago (from when I type this) and so if you were following me, you would have seen my two cents on the Bijinsenmon leg slimming mask already.

20120807-232548.jpg

About an hour ago, I decided to try on the leg slimming mask I had purchased off Sasa two weeks ago. There was a sale on at the time.. And seeing as Summer is coming along, I thought it’d get some good use. Plus, it’d be great to review as well.

Oh and I also purchased the arm slimming mask which I haven’t tried yet.

#imgettingoutofthetopic

First of all, i have to mention that I had some problems with using the mask because the whole packaging is in japanese. I opened the box to find 4 packets so I took the first one out. Turns out to be some plastic sheets with tape around it. #confusion

Then of course I turned to Google and had to type in “how to use bijinsenmon leg mask” to which I found English answers for.

I was told to open up two packets. One which includes the wrap and one which includes the actual slimming mask. Great. I happened to choose the plastic wrap packet – which is why I was so confused.

So I open another packet to find two sheets… which sort of looks like a face mask – its made of cotton and has a liquid – very much like gel soaked into the cotton sheets.

I unwrap the sheets to find that it is a rectangular shape… I place the long side around my calves and the shorter side down my calves. Then I use the plastic sheets from my first packet and wrap around the wet cotton sheets wrapped around my leg. I assume this is used to heat up the product. Easy. I use the sticky tape to stick the sheet around my legs and go onto the other leg.

#waits

The wait is easy. For the first 10 minutes, I do not feel a thing. Almost refreshing because of the gel on my legs. Then I take my legs are throw them under my blanket.. with the electric blanket on e highest setting in hope that it could help to speed up the process and possibly enhance the results.

5 minutes later.. I can feel my legs heating up. “Heating up” is probably an understatement. They are BURNING!!!!

My sister walks in to distract whilst talking to me about business. I’m sitting there (with my legs out of the blanket now) and fanning my legs hoping I can fan off the flames. #imdyinginside

15 minutes later.. I can no longer handle it. Instructions say that the recommended usage is 15 minutes, but I always leave facial masks on for longer. This does not differ.

So I’ve had this slimming leg mask on for 30 minutes. It’s stinging and burning my calves. I think it’s working. The heat is meant to stay for 30-60 minutes…

After I pull off the mask, it still felt quite wet. I decided to throw it on my thighs and see if results are the same. I throw the used sheets on my thighs and reuse the plastic wrap to secure the cotton masks on my thighs. I pop my pajamas over the masks and wait.

10 minutes later, I start to feel the heating sensation again. I wonder if it’s just because of my electric blanket?

I turn all my heaters and wait another 5 minutes.

Ok. Done. I’m not going to make the same mistake. If the recommended usage time is 15 minutes, I’m taking it off at 15 minutes!! Learnt that the hard way #murmurs.

I’m feeling the heat sensation again!!! But not as painful as my calves.

I can’t wait to continue using this. I actually think it works with regular use!!!!!!

Next time I use this.. I’m using a measuring tape.. And some pictures.

Stay tuned ladies!

Have you ever wished for flawless skin?

Ohaiyo!

#WARNING
Bare face photos in this post

Last week, I went to the Laser Lounge to get an Enzyme treatment! I’m the type of girl who loves to pamper myself no matter what skin condition I have.

Acne? Treat!
Pores?
Treat!
Dry skin?
Treat!
PMS?
Treat!
Wrinkles?
Treat!

#Tip Don’t wait until something happens.. then do something about it. Prevention is key!

Although regular treatments and pampering sessions are important, something that a lot of women are missing.. is a “maintenance” routine. Much like keeping fit, you need to exercise regularly and maintain a good diet.. achieving flawless skin works the same way! You can obviously cheat here and there, but maintaining a regular skincare routine is extremely important.

I tend to change up my routine quite a lot.. so that I can try different products and find the best one for my skin! But this particular skincare line has been one of my favourites lately.

Danne-Montague King (DMK)

Step 1: Cleanse

The DMK range comes with a cleanser but I like to double cleanse. I wear a heap of makeup on a daily basis and so I like to make sure my skin can breathe at the end of each day.

First, I take my favourite cleansing wipes to cleanse up all my make up, then I take a foam cleanser to wash up any residue the make up wipes have left, or any make up I couldn’t wipe off in the first step. I find this step extremely important. When I don’t do this, I most likely wake up the next day with a pimple!

Step 2: Serum

For those skincare fanatics, we know how important a “facial serum” is.. a cream/lotion is simply not sufficient in replenishing your skin! A serum is used before your moisturiser! It can basically seep into the deeper layers of your skin that your ordinary moisturiser can not reach!

Serums are made to give nutrients, whereas a cream/lotion is made to give you moisture!! Obviously different serums can be used to treat different skin concerns – there are anti-aging, whitening and many other types of serums out there!

It’s no secret that Vitamin C is one of the best vitamins on the market, this Direct Delivery C Serum is made to skin right into your skin and give it the ability to defend itself against any damage! It also gives an instant glow!!

#Tip The tiniest amount is enough to cover the whole face because this serum absorbs so well into your skin!!!

#Tip Pat it down rather than rub! It will absorb much quicker!

Step 3: Eye Cream [ice-creme]

The muscles around your eyes are always working much harder than the rest of your face. Everytime you blink, everytime you wink, everytime you widen your eyes, close your eyes or rub your eyes – you are working the tiny muscles around your eye area.

The skin around your eyes are also thinner and will show aging signs much faster than the rest of your face.. this is why you need special care for your eyes! Your under eye area does not contain oil glands either – hence why your eye area tends to dry out quicker.

It is critical to own an eye cream separate to your facial cream.

Eye creams are expensive little things, but they are the most critical part of your skin care routine. Your eyes show the aging first and any signs of unhealthiness! I highly recommend the investment! The DMK direct delivery vitamin C serum assists to revising the signs of biological and environmental ageing – fine lines, sun damage, wrinkles, pigmentation, etc!

#Tip Do not rub the eye area. Always use patting and pressing motions.

Step 4: Moisturise

As discussed in step 3, moisturising is really important! DMK’s proamino creme helps maintain the skin’s pH balance while promoting the tightening and toning of the tissues!!! It actually contains hydroscopic lipids – which will really help moisturise your skin “naturally” and also contains one of the most poerful, absorbable vitamin C complexes available in the market at the moment! Basically tricks the skin into thinking moisturising itself naturally!

I also use the herb & mineral spray with the proamino creme because it helps your skin absorb the creme better! Basically using a cotton tip (or clean fingers), dab a few dots on your face, then spray the mist four times, and spread. Pat dry as usual!

Instant Results!

And I’m done!! Check out my bright complexion!!! Seriously, I feel like my face is glowing after I’ve started to use this skin care line. Partnered with some treatments, you will be glowing with radiance without make up in no time!! Don’t be afraid to walk out bare faced now – yay!!! :)
