Get studded

Apologies for being MIA.

Nothing usual by now right? I really probably shouldn’t be saying that. I really wish I had more time to blog about my inspirations and other things. I really miss my passion for blogging but now there are so many more platforms for me to keep up with that it’s making it impossible to keep up with!

Let’s talk about my latest fashion obsession. I think the studs are really coming back this season. I have been seeing a huge amount of studded accessories and clothing pieces lately.

My favourite studded pieces. Very easy to DIY as well if you may. I’m about to run out to purchase some studs so look out for a Do-It-Yourself tutorial.

What are your thoughts? Do you like the studs/spikes trend?

Have you tried to DIY anything with studs before?

World’s Longest Catwalk!

August 28, 2012 | No comments yet - you should start the discussion!

World’s Longest Catwalk #WLC? Seriously?

Yes.

WORLD’S LONGEST CATWALK.

Last week, ECCO shoes held an event at Darling Harbour, Sydney, to beat the world’s longest catwalk record of 2.7km in Turkey. They invited bloggers, competition winners (from their facebook) and some others from the media to model their shoes!!

I was lucky enough to be invited! I’d never tried ECCO shoes prior to this soley because I’ve always been a big fan of “uncomfortable” shoes truly believing that looks & comfort just do not go together. Think about those amazing Christian Louboutins!!! #mindsidetracks

For those who have not been introduced to ECCO shoesbefore, they are known for their lightness, comfort and flexibility. I have flat feet so it’s typically extremely hard to find comfortable shoes. They either scrape the back of my heels, or pinch either ends of my toes. But the shoes that I modelled for Ecco.. did do not any of these!!! I was essentially walking on cushions!!!!!

I wore these loafers during the whole catwalk are called KAYLOR.

Kaylor (link):
Rich leather ladies moccasin with a contemporary nautical look
Absorbent and extremely breathable leather lining for all-day freshness
Comfort foam cushioning supports the foot for easy wear
Slim, highly flexible cemented rubber sole enhances stability

Here I am with some of the other models. There were 39 of us altogether and we walked a total of 2.812 kms each!!! Some of us were even in wedges and heels!!!!

With Joelyne from Thesydneygirl

With Phoebe and Joelyne

With the super gorgeous and friendly Cecylia

Mia Freedman, author and writer of MammaMia hosted the event! She’s such an amazing speaker and David Thompson from Record Setter came to measure the distance of the catwalk and award ECCO shoes for their new record! I can’t seem to find the video that was made on the day, but here are some photos! You can also see the rest of the photos here.

You are read more about the World’s Longest Catwalk here.

After the long walk, half of us walked over to Black by ezard to indulge in a mouthwatering feast.

Ocean Trout

Potato Puree

Blueberry & Lemon Tart

I’ll be back with the video real soon!!

Did anyone manage to catch the show on Saturday morning? Let me know if you did!

river island

I recently made my first purchase from River Island which is based in UK – I’ve loved this store since hearing it from Poynterr. She doesn’t update often but I used to be hooked onto her accent! They were offering free international shipping for a week so it was the perfect time to splurge :)

There were many prints featured in the online catalogue so I chose leopard prints as the theme for my shopping cart. #leopardprintslove

#1 Leopoard bikini top & bottom £12.00 each

#2 Cream & Pink Double heart ring £2.00

#3 Leopard print screw cuff bracelet £10.00

#4 White leopard print loafers £25.00

My total order was £59.00 and was delivered within 3 business days!!! That’s international delivery within 3 business days – how insane is that?

I would definitely recommend River Island online store – especially for those ASOS lovers who are looking for an alternative! I’ve been shopping online so much lately so more purchases and reviews on these shops to come!! :)

Just a camwhore pic of myself.. or several.. to end!! I feel like I haven’t posted up a picture of myself on my blog for ages!!!

only #filter! No slenderising of the face!!! I think this hairstyle is really slimming my chubby cheeks!

No caption. Just camwhore. Hahaha. I wish I could be more creative with captioning my pics!

Kinda look abit scary here but I love the curls in my hair! :)

That is all! Tata~

Recommended Aussie Online Stores

July 8, 2012 | 3 comments so far - join the discussion!

Australian online shops seem to be my favourite because of the fact that shipping tends to be free – or at least less expensive than international shipping. One of the bestest things about Aussies though, is the fact that most of them offerovernight shipping. What more can an impulse and last-minute shopper want?

I’m going to do a quick review on some of my top Aussie shops.. or the ones I just always browse through!

Lucy in the sky www.lucyinthesky.com.au

I love this shop because it has alot of pieces I  like at super affordable prices!! Shipping is also free within Australia so my eyes are always set on this site on a Monday when I’m planning for my weekend. I think one thing I really dislike about this website is that alot of the items are “sold out” and you have to really take the time to browse!! There is an option to hide all “sold out items” but then it just eliminates almost half your choice!

However that being said, I still do love this shop!

Showpony www.showpony.com.au

Most Australian online fashion shoppers should be aware of this webshop by now. One of the largest (I believe) online stores for clothes and also run by one of my friends! This store is also available in Westfields (lower ground).

I like it because you can actually try on the dresses first at the store and “think about it”- then if you really want to buy it for an event later, you can purchase it online! There are also always sales on so if you are on a budget, you can always browse through the SALES section!

Alot of the items are quite similar to Lucyinthesky, so make sure you compare the prices before you buy!

Grocery Run www.groceryrun.com.au

I really like Grocery Run! It’s run by Catch of the day but Grocery Run stocks… grocery.. duh, including lots of beauty items such as drugstore makeup. I’ve seen loads of 1L shampoos and conditioners on it as well as Revlon liquid eyeliners and foundations, to even Poptarts (yum!!!!)

I’m always making orders on this site hence why I’m adding it in here.. plus, it’s beauty related too – somewhat!

Sorellabella www.sorellabella.com.au

I haven’t purchased from this site before but I really love browsing on it! There is free shipping over $100 within Australia so it’s not bad considering 2-3 items already makes up a shopping cart of about $100! There are a few items I’m eyeing at the moment but watching for an occasion to be able to wear them!

There are quite a few Australian brands available on here too – such as Minty meets Munt, toi et moi, finders keepers and talulah.

P.S. I know it’s spelt wrong in the picture btw.

Wanderlust & Co. www.wanderlustandco.com

Not sure if this store is actually located in Australia but I know you can pay in Australian dollars and shipping is faster to Australia than any other part of the world (I assume its Australian then?)

I’ve eyed several items from this store and I know a few fashion bloggers have recommended it too! I mainly love it for their adorable wristwear and a few necklaces and rings too!

top pick online stores

June 30, 2012 | No comments yet - you should start the discussion!

Over and over again, I receive emails asking what my favourite online stores are!

Ofcourse, being a crazy online shopper, there are hundreds I could list.. but I’m going to settle with a few of my top tops!

I think I might do a series of these posts.. because there are so many online shops I love! I might also do an “Australian online stores” one for my Aussies ^^

ASOS

One of my top favourites is ASOS. Ofcourse most of us know what ASOS is by now.. I don’t think anyone is new to it.

I love the fact that you can actually see a “catwalk” with almost every piece of clothing you’re interested in on real life models! There are also loads of choices and the search criteria is extremely useful! There are also hundreds and thousands of items for each category so it’s never too difficult to find something you like for the occasion you are shopping for!

More amazing things about ASOS is that you can actually download an iPad or iPhone application for their website which means you can shop anytime and anywhere! Not to mention, there are almost ALWAYS SALES!!! Remember to join their newsletter because it’s always the fastest way to find out about their sales!

I could probably rave on and on about how much I like ASOS, but it would probably be useless because I’m sure 80% of my readers are also a massive fan already!

So here are a few picks from ASOS. I’m going to do this for every store so you can get the feel of what the online stores are like before clicking over.

Pastel yellow heels (AU$30.61)

Navy Party Dress in Mesh (AU$32.21)

White Skater Dress in Embellished Trim (AU$34.01)

Let’s move on!

boohoo

I’ve talked about this website before, but they recently launched an Australian-friendly website – which means Australian currency displays and free shipping within Australia!!

I’ve always loved the outfits boohoo.com puts together so I was extremely excited when they launched the “Australian” side. One of the best things about this website is that it is easy to look for items and you can search by trends. I’m loving the pastel and floral print trends this season so I’ve been browsing through those categories.

Overall a great website for inexpensive dresses, shoes and accessories with free shipping! I probably wouldn’t be able to compare it with ASOS though because boohoo.com has a lot less items to choose from.

I think my favourite items from this shop is definitely the shoes. Extremely inexpensive and very cute!

See my top picks below.

Animal Top Mixi Dress (AU$40)

Gold Glitter Shoe boots (AU$70)

Turquoise Suedette  Shoe Boot (AU$70)

Esther Boutique

I randomly found out about this online shop via twitter and have saved it in my bookmarks until now. It’s about $13 for shipping but if you purchase over $200, it’s free within Australia. Although prices are fairly reasonable on this online shop, I think a lower limit in free shipping would push me to purchase more from here.

Lots of these items I’ve actually seen in stores before.. but it’s always nice to have access to them online. I love the pieces in this online store though. Very chic and great for either a nice bar or even the office!

Some of my favourite picks.

Bodice Lace Mesh Detail Dress (AU$79)

Baby blue mini skirt (AU$59)

Palace Cocktail dress in Lilac (AU$89)

I think that’s all for today. I will post more of my favourite online stores in another post! :)

Tomorrow is Nuffnang Blogopolis and I’m supposed to be reviewing my presentation slides and preparing for my speech, but instead, I am here online shopping and bookmarking my favourite pieces from each online store for this post!! *tsk tsk*

For everyone who will be coming, see you at 8am tomorrow!!!!!!

brasNthings review

June 22, 2012 | 3 comments so far - join the discussion!

This is not a sponsored post. Read it again. Not a sponsored post.

It may seem like one but I assure you it’s not!

Recently, I made an order with brasNthings – I typically quite like their bras because there are a lot of different styles, options and the sizing is quite nice for my body. Of course though, some of my other favourite bra shops I also like are Victoria Secret & La Senza.

One of my favourite things about brasNthings is simply the fact that it is easily accessible… you can find one.. at almost every Westfields shopping centre! With Victoria Secret, you can only purchase it online (if you are from Australia, or at the airport) and you tend to need to guess the sizing a lot, which isn’t the most desirable when it comes to bra shopping.

A few weeks ago, when I made my purchase, there was a huge $20 sale!!! (Just checked and the sale is still on!!!!!)

I purchased 4 bras for just over AU$100!!! Check my receipt below.

Also has free shipping within Australia!!!!!!!

Shipping took less than one week to arrive, I think I ordered on a Thursday, and it arrived the next Monday or Tuesday!! Super fast!

I’ve already worn some of the bras, so I’m just going to show you guys the other ones that I didn’t wear. *shyface*

Quality of the bras is really good! Just make sure you don’t just chuck it in the washing machine. Needs to be in a laundry bag or handwashed!!!

My favourite part of the bras is the “water” push up! These are one of my favourite bras of all time from brasNthings because they really mould with your bewbies!! It also creates a perfect contour for when you wear bodycon dresses or tight tops! :)

Enough from me, go shop your hearts out while the sale is still on!!!! Bras are a girls best friend!!!

eQUIP accessories

May 27, 2012 | 5 comments so far - join the discussion!

Decided to pull out the lens of another 3D pair of glasses to camwhore with my new “Fall in Love” eQUIP scarf. eQUIP has recently come out with loads of super cute winter accessories – I especially love their “Fall in Love” and “Cozy Up” collections!!!

eQUIP yourself

For Winter, I feel like scarves really do make such a big difference!!! Your neck, along with your thighs and stomach, are extremely sensitive parts of your body. If you leave these areas out in the open, you tend to feel the temperature so much more!!! When it’s 5 degrees, it feels like negative negative 5 degrees la! :’(

Scarves are possibly one of the easiest pieces to style when it comes to fashion. With single coloured crochet, wool or cotton scarves, you can essentially match them with any outfit! Just please.. don’t wear it with a singlet!

Paired with an  old woollen jumper because you can seriously pair scarves with anything!!!! Also because I’m just at home and comfortable. No other excuse :P

As you can notice, I finally ombred my hair!!! It’s still quite brassy at the ends because I’ve only bleached it once, but I’m planning to bleach it another time, then put a silver toner through it. No pictures were taken though because the whole process took me 4 hours!!!

Red hair is the bigggest bxtch to colour correct but if you do it properly, it usually gets rid of most of the red!

This is my hair when it was red.. (I tuned up the vibrancy a tad so you can see how strong the red tones are in my hair)

The step by step process:

1) Colour correcting with MyHD Colour remover – leave it in for about 45 minutes to make sure the permanent dye is competely removed and you are left with your natural hair colour. If your hair is bleached, you will not be able to remove the bleach so you will find your hair light brown -> orange. Bleach is essentially stripping pigments from your natural hair hence why you will not be able to remove the bleach. Dry hair.

2) I used a dark home hair dye kit (I just picked up a L’Oreal Level 4 Brown shade hair dye. Don’t quite remember which one now). It’s typically better to dye hair on dry second/third day hair, which is why I had to dry my hair after the first step. I use Dove’s Nutri-Oil Serum on the ends of my hair before applying the hair dye and apply the dye on my roots before going in to colour the rest of my hair. In this step, I left about 25-30 cms of the ends of my hair “dye-free” because I wanted to achieve the “ombre” hair. Dry hair.

3) For this step, you have to wait until your hair is completely dry because bleach does not work on wet hair. I waited about 2-3 hours before completing this step. I applied a thick layer of bleach to the ends of my hair first, waited for 10 minutes and applied more about 10cm higher. I repeated this step until I was happy with how high I wanted the gradually effect to start. Wash hair and dry.

mirror iphone case

A few days ago, I was reading Raine‘s blog and saw this super duper cute phone case she had. I immediately tweeted her and asked her about it!!!

Check out this super duper madly cute geisha “Kimmi doll” phone case from Strawberry Stories!!!!!!

no more compact mirrors needed

I suspect this case is for super lazy girls who are always touching up their lipstick or foundation and cbf going to the bathroom!! I’m guilty of falling into the “lazy lipstick girls” category.

I super love this case so much that I made a gif of the above pictures with an iphone app I’ve had since forever, but have not played with much!! I love the gifs this app can produce!! Its called Mei Tu Gif and can be downloaded from here.

The direct link to the phone case is here because you girls who want it fall into the lazy girls category. hahaha!!! Anddd, there is also the same case in pink!!!

Also, more pictures of me because I was camwhoring anyway!

The makeup I did on the train this morning because I woke up supeerrrrrrr late and had to run onto the train with no make up on. I haven’t washed my hair in 2 days too but I suppose it’s good because I’m due to re-colour my hair. Ignore my ridiculously horrific regrowths please!

My next hair appointment (with myself at home, hahaha) is on Sunday!! Raine has promised to come over to my place to help me ombre my hair! If you don’t remember what I look like with ombre hair, you can check out this old post where I ombred my hair with my braided hair extensions!!

It’s been a while since I’ve done anything “blonde” to my hair so I’m really quite scared!! Fingers crossed it turns out okay! If not, please do not comment on the next post when I show it to you. JUST KIDDING.

Would you girls want photos of how I dye my hair? Or.. should I just show the results, and then make a video on the step-by-step routine?
