be a helping hand

To celebrate 10 years of business, Trilogy has launched a year long campaign to raise funds for Child’s i Foundation – a charity established by a British lady named Lucy Buck, helping to end the tragedy of abandonment of babies in Uganda.

In third world, or less developed countries some may argue, many babies are not given the choice to live. A study has shown that an estimated number of 40 to 80 new-born babies are being abandoned each year by their mothers in Kampada – Uganda. These babies are sadly being dumped in dust bins, on streets and other areas.

Many of these babies are abandoned due to poverty, diseases and violence within Uganda.

Child’s i Foundation helps to provide care for these babies – providing shelter and support – to ensure that every child in its care grows up in a loving family in Uganda.

I love Trilogy as a brand and so I wanted to take part of this project and assist in spreading the word about this campaign along to everyone who would love to support these abandoned babies. Of course there are many ways to support, and you can read more about Child’s i Foundation here.

Our world has been filled with so much hate, jealousy and selfishness that a lot of us seem to forget the love within ourselves. We forget how lucky we are to be loved, to be brought up by our families, to be cared for by our friends.

Celebrate with Trilogy and lend a helping hand

Helping Hand Wash combines the natural antibacterial properties of Elderberry and Burdock with natural vegetable oils in an effective, low foaming liquid soap. RRP $19,95 (300ml)

A small 10-cent coin sized pump is enough to thoroughly cleanse your hands. The formula of the hand wash is very moisturising as the texture of the wash is more of a cream than gel.

I was a little surprised by the texture of the cream because I’m so used to gel or foam based liquid soap. This helping hand wash not only doesn’t foam up, but actually leaves an amazing lavender scent on your soft & moisturised hands!!

Highly recommended hand wash because you get to keep an amazing hand wash (It honestly smells very very nice!!!! But I may be bias towards Lavender – my favourite colour and smell) whilst supporting a great charity.

Hellooooo everyone from LA!!

Unfortunately I don’t have a computer around here so I can make a proper blog post but I’ve definitely been making loads of tweets about my shopping and other adventures!!

So far, I’ve been to Beverly Hills – Rodeo Dr and Beverly Dr, Disneyland and Hollywood!!

It’s been a crazy adventure and I can’t wait to share it all with y’all!

I just need a freaaakiinggg computer to upload some photos and I’ll be able to blog normally again! Weeeeee!

I’ve enjoyed Hollywood the most because unlike Beverly Hills, they have your lower end boutiques like H&M and Forever21!!!

I made a few purchases from Forever21 but was horribly disappointed with H&M! Hopefully I will visit again in NYC and I will find something I like!

So far I haven’t made too many purchases but let me share some with you before I showcase all my shopping goodies in a video or blogpost when I’m home in Sydney!

One of my favourite buys from Disneyland!

sleeping positions

Helloo!!

I’m in the middle of studying for my exam now and procrastinating whilst watching 萬凰之王. How can some women be so evil? I really can’t understand. If anyone else watches this and wants to comment, please do not do not give me any spoilers! I’m only on episode 9!!!!!!

I apologise not vlogging and blogging much lately, but I really have a lot going on in life at the moment!!! I’m trying to prepare for my exam (which is on 14th December – this Wednesday) and also trying to prepare for my trips to Malaysia (from 15th December to 19th December) for #NAPBAS Nuffnang Asia Pacific Blog Awards and my U.S Trip I’ve been so so excited about!

I’ll leave you with my November Beauty Favourites video, which once again, I uploaded quite a few days ago already. wtf. (x___x)

And I’ll also leave you with something very interesting I found last week!

Foetus

Those who curl up in the foetus position are described as tough on the outside but sensitive at heart. They may be shy when they first meet somebody, but soon relax. This is the most common sleeping position, adopted by 41% of the 1,000 people who took part in the survey. More than twice as many women as men tend to adopt this position.

★ ☆ ✰

Log

Lying on your side with both arms down by your side. These sleepers are easy going, social people who like being part of the in-crowd, and who are trusting of strangers. However, they may be gullible.

★ ☆ ✰

Yearner

People who sleep on their side with both arms out in front are said to have an open nature, but can be suspicious, cynical. They are slow to make up their minds, but once they have taken a decision, they are unlikely ever to change it.

★ ☆ ✰

Soldier

Lying on your back with both arms pinned to your sides. People who sleep in this position are generally quiet and reserved. They don’t like a fuss, but set themselves and others high standards.

★ ☆ ✰

Freefall

Lying on your front with your hands around the pillow, and your head turned to one side. Often gregarious and brash people, but can be nervy and thin-skinned underneath, and don’t like criticism, or extreme situations.

★ ☆ ✰

Starfish

Lying on your back with both arms up around the pillow. These sleepers make good friends because they are always ready to listen to others, and offer help when needed. They generally don’t like to be the centre of attention.

★ ☆ ✰

Which sleeping position do you fall in?

I think I’m the Foetus.

It is said that I am tough on the outside and sensitive on the inside. I think it’s true. In fact, I think most women are like this!!!

Mr.CG is definitely the Starfish. He likes to sleep with his back facing up and arms around the pillow. I think his description is right as well. He is very kind at heart and always helping others when needed (only good friends though I guess!). He also does not like to be the centre of attention – and always gives all the attention to me!!

Do you think what the description says about you is true?

guide to self-tanning!

I can’t believe I’ve posted that video for days now but haven’t had the chance to post it on my blog!

Summer is approaching and I loveeee self-tanning rather than having to spend time at a beach to “tan”. I mean – I love going to the beach, but as you age, you really don’t have much time to the beach to lie and relax anymore.. you seem to have other priorities, errands.. or you just much prefer to relax at home when you have the chance. That goes for me anyway – I could just be mad lazy! hehe.

Anyhow, I have some summer tips ofcourse, for those of you who are in my end of the world and are quite new to self-tanning or still in search for the ultimate self-tanning product.

You should watch the video to see the products but I’ll just list and explain a few here.

Johnson’s Holiday Skin Lotion – great as a first “tanning” lotion because it has a more gradual effect. If you want a “fast tan” – this product isn’t for you! Smells horrible too!! Has big and small bottles for anyone who wants to try it out first. Goes on white, and dries clear.

Palmer’s Olive Butter Natural Bronze Tanning Lotion – smells like olive oil! Tans faster than the Johnson’s one but is still a gradual tanning lotion. Goes on white, and dries clear.

Le Tan Self-Tan Mousse – Hard to blend and can get very messy because it dries quickly. Colour pay-off is amazing and one coat can lead you with a great colour – but can easily streak! Must wear a glove!!! One of my favourites though!

Le Tan Fast Self-Tan Lotion – Hate the applicator!!! The sponge that it comes with is very unhygiene and a rubbish idea. But I love the product!

Face of Australia Bronzer Instant Tan - Very much like the Le Tan Mousse!!! Same comments as the above – but I think the colour is lighter than the Le Tan one!

Bloom Gradual Tanning Lotion – One of my favourites again! Comes out as a lotion and the colour pay off is great, yet its very user friendly!! Does not streak!

Le Tan Flawless Legs – like Sally Hansen’s famous airbrush legs! It’s a spray-on colour for your legs – something you may want to use if you are not very good at tanning, or do not want to keep a tan for a very long time – only a night. Great product, but horrible if you intend to sweat. Matte Finish.

Kit Luminous Body Bronzer – Keeps legs moisturised and smooth. A little more on the expensive side, especially considering it does wash off after a day/night. Glossy Finish. Does not sweat off.

SKII Masks!

Advertorial

I tweeted about using this mask not too long ago and got loads of response about it!! I’ve never really been a facial mask junkie, but I can’t deny the fact that I’ve used three this week already!!!

Although having tried lots of different branded masks in the past, no other brands really caught my attention. I’ve never, at any point, stopped to keep the packaging of a particular brand or type to re-use. Beauty diary masks have been a keeper due to the price and range, but apart from that… nothing.

Recently, I tried the SKII Facial Treatment mask. At first, the name didn’t sound like anything special, and at a cost of approximately $12 per sheet – when you purchase it in a pack of 10 here, the price really wasn’t very appealing to me either. I did a bit of research and finally settled in to try it.

I don’t want to sound like I’m exaggerating, but I’m hooked. Having used just 2 sheets already, I can already feel and see the difference in my skin texture!!!! My face feels amazing!!!!

My favourite thing about the sheet mask is that SKII isn’t tightarse about it’s amazing products!! The package literally contains more content than I’ve ever seen!!! I almost want to find a jar to fill up the unused content – which is something I’m still considering but because I’m lazy I’ve just been wiping it all over my neck, chest and arms!!!

let’s talk about sheet masks!

Wipe off makeup to ensure that your sheet mask isn’t eating up your make up rather than sinking into your sink!

I suggest using a toner after, but feel free to just pat dry!

Unwrap your sheet of magic.

Leave on until the sheet mask feels completely dry!!! You don’t want to waste any product at all!!! Should be about 15-20mins!

To ensure no product is wasted, make sure you use excess content on your neck!!

After you take off your sheet mask, the mask should be damp to dry. You can toss it out, or wash it and reuse with DIY masks!!! Good idea, right? Next time I’ll try to do some sort of tutorial for DIY masks but I don’t think it will ever be as good as this SKII one!!

For now a limited time only, you can purchase SKII Facial Treatment masks from EglobalBeauty for 5% off when you mention “chaigyaru” in the discount code! There is also free worldwide shipping and further loyalty discounts for members!!!

revlon grow luscious

I recently attended the bloggers Revlon Grow Luscious (it’s green because the Grow Luscious line is in the colour green) event to learn so much more about their awesome line! This line is not made specifically to boost your eye makeup and make your life easier, but it will also do some handy work in the background!!

It claims to “condition, strengthen and plump your eyelashes up to 200 times instantly for maximum volume“.

Its amazing!! The formula for both the mascara and lash liner is made super easy to apply because it is uber smooth!!

I have been trialing the black lash liner for over a week now, and although I can’t say I notice the growth of my lashes, I love the formula for “cosmetic” use any way!! No pressure is required to apply the lash liner – it literally glides on like honey!

Love Love Love!!!

Anyway, here are some of the photos taken at the event – credit to the photographer, Sam.

With Michelle (CosmeticCupcake), Angie (An Obsession With the Fabulous), Helen (Sassybella), Iantha (Bimbhoe), Joylene (TheSydneyGrl) and Adeline (Through Beauty Eyes)

Must sure to also enter Revlon’s giveaway to win Shoes by Peeptoe, Ring by Pandora, Dress by Nicola Finetti, Bag by Olga Berg and Revlon Prize pack!

5 weeks results

Wow, this week has been a tough week with negativity on Youtube, but luckily, I had thought it through clearly before:

1) Taking the procedure
2) Uploading the video

Before I go on though, thank you to all those who have been loudly or silently supporting me.

Yes, I understand why some of you are against botox, but I also believe that there is alot of misunderstandings towards botox. Botox isn’t “plastic surgery”, it doesn’t change me as a person.. in fact, I must stress that results only last for 6-12 months.

If you want to continue the botox injections, you may. If you do not, you don’t have to and you will gradually enlarge the muscles by using them on a daily basis again. Then… you return to looking exactly the way you did prior to the injections!

I’m going to put an example like this.. because I feel like this is how I understand it..

Think that “the muscle” you are treating is “you” (as a person). Inserting botox is almost like placing yourself into a freezer to “freeze” your age. You will then not age – until the ice melts (hehe. childhood stories ftw!). Botox doesn’t harm you – unless you are overdosing yourself with injections – and like anything.. if you overuse it, it’s harmful!

My results are still rather subtle at this stage.. and I like it that way!! I never wanted to change the shape of my way.. all I wanted was a subtle difference!

5 weeks after I had my jaw and chin botox

You can refer to the post before for the “before” photo. I can’t wait til more results next week as next week will be my 6th week – which is meant to be maximum results!!

Will promise to continue updating… keep following my journey.

I got botox!

I probably would have never imagined doing something so crazy before but I took the plunge and went for a consultation with Dr. Rahbar at the Laser Lounge and realised what an easy procedure it is.

Now… let’s see… botox. That’s such a mis-used word.. such that when you say that to anyone, they automatically assume you are in your 40s and require some sort of lifting of your face. Let me explain. Find a comfortable seat and a comfortable position.. because this may take a while.

Ok, “Botox” is a neurotoxic protein – it actually stands for botulinum toxin. Botox is only a “brand” of this neurotoxic protein.. so essentially, you can replace “botox” for other similar injectibles. This is something to beware of when you do purchase “Anti-Wrinkle injections” from group deal websites such as Spreets and Scoopon. Do your research!

Although Botox is commonly used as an “Anti-Wrinkle” agent, it can also be used for Non-Cosmetic procedures.. such as excessive sweating and teeth grinding!

The procedure I took is to reduce the size of my massetter (my jaw muscles). Your jaw muscles can be larger from genetics, excessive chewing or even grinding your teeth!! I have a really bad habit of grinding my teeth when I sleep and when I’m stressed, so I think this was one of the main issues for me.

Botox is injected into the “enlarged” massetter muscle to weaken it so that it can gradually become smaller over several months. This procedure can be a good alternative to plastic surgery but not everyone is a good candidate. The reason I say this is because if you naturally have a square jaw – rather than enlarged jaw muscles, the only solution would be to reduce the size of your bone, not your muscle (obviously).

The best way to see if you are a good candidate or not is if you actually go for a consultation to ask your Doctor, or clench your teeth together to feel your jaw muscles.

In terms of units, typically for this type of procedure, I started off with the smallest amount – I think Dr.Rahbar mentioned that its 25ml on each side – which was equivalent to 5 injectibles on each jaw. If you have any further questions on units/prices, you can email Dr.Rahbar here. The more units you have, the more costly the procedure is. I believe some doctors charge you by units, whereas some others will charge you based on what you want to do because if you “purchase” more units, they are give you a “bulk” price.

What I did & Why?
At the initial consultation, I mentioned to Dr.Rahbar that all I wanted was to reduce the size of my face. He analysed my face shape and features and told me that to reduce the square appearance he would recommend some botox on my jaw muscles and my chin. If you look back up and see my “Before” picture, you will see that my jaw muscles were very apparent and my chin looked as if it had a “lump” (what Dr.Rahbar called a “fat pad”). He basically said that if I were to insert a miminal dosage on the jaw muscles and chin, I could create more of a “V” face to my face. I agreed.

Obviously, the decision wasn’t rushed. It took me about 2 months before I actually had the procedure done.

How much is it?
Although this procedure was kindly sponsored by The Laser Lounge, the procedure itself would typically cost AU$650 for the Jaw Botox and AU$90 for the Chin Botox.

How long do results last?
Dependent on every individual and the areas being treated, results typically last for 6-12 months.

Did it hurt?
I would say it really depends on your pain tolerant level. I can tolerate injection pain and I occasionally donate blood with Australian Red Cross.. so.. it didn’t hurt much for me. Areas that were more sensitive for me were the chin area, and areas closer to my cheekbone. You can see the whole procedure in the video to see where I really felt the pain the most.

Before photos

Pictures from the procedure

Waiting whilst Dr.Rahbar washed his hands to prep for the procedure

Anti-bacteria wipes and makeup remover to begin the treatment

Ice pack to prevent swelling and to numb the area

White outline to guide the treatment area

After the treatment. No redness or swelling at all!!!

As you can see, the treatment was really a “lunch break” treatment. There was absolutely no swelling nor redness. I couldn’t drink alcohol or lie down for 4 hours after the treatment.. and that was all!

The treatment literally took about 5 mins, and you can see from the video below. It is freaking amazing!!!

Thank god I found such an amazing cosmetic physcian.. otherwise I would have never wanted to get this treatment done. I will be reporting back within the next few weeks with results, but for now, I can already see results!!!! See my more recent pictures for reference!!!

Results are supposed to be gradually.. and it should be visible in about 6 weeks time. I’m at 4 weeks right now.. so I’m excited to see what will happen within the next 2 weeks.

Thank you The Laser Lounge & Dr. Rahbar (he’s cute too, isn’t he!)

Dr. Rahbar (pictured above) was kind enough to let me provide you with his email so that he can answer any of your questions about botox or any other cosmetic treatment for your convenience!!!!

If you have any further questions about the treatment or you’d like to ask me another questions, you can leave a comment below or email Dr. Rahbar or myself.

Don’t forget to check out the video first before you ask any questions though, because watching the treatment it in “real time” and on footage can possibly answer most of your questions!!!

Whats Next

I’ve been busy on a project that I’ve wanted to work on for ages. What is it?

I’m launching my sister, Fiona aka “Fiorr” as a partner of my blog to help me out a little. I have asked her and we have decided that we are both happy for her to guest edit every once in a while. I’m hoping that this will allow more of you to engage into the “fashion” side of this blog as well as the beauty.

I’ve taught her how to take fashion shoots on her own and we had some sister-time together photo shooting.

Here is a sneakpeek.
