LA baby!

Hellooooo everyone from LA!!

Unfortunately I don’t have a computer around here so I can make a proper blog post but I’ve definitely been making loads of tweets about my shopping and other adventures!!

So far, I’ve been to Beverly Hills – Rodeo Dr and Beverly Dr, Disneyland and Hollywood!!

It’s been a crazy adventure and I can’t wait to share it all with y’all!

I just need a freaaakiinggg computer to upload some photos and I’ll be able to blog normally again! Weeeeee!

I’ve enjoyed Hollywood the most because unlike Beverly Hills, they have your lower end boutiques like H&M and Forever21!!!

I made a few purchases from Forever21 but was horribly disappointed with H&M! Hopefully I will visit again in NYC and I will find something I like!

So far I haven’t made too many purchases but let me share some with you before I showcase all my shopping goodies in a video or blogpost when I’m home in Sydney!

One of my favourite buys from Disneyland!

now everyone can fly

Now everyone can fly. This logo may not sound like much to you – but it really does have a deep meaning behind it. I truly believe in budget airlines because with budget airlines, I am able to fly around the world to see family and meet blog friends with minimal cost. Typically, an airline would supply one with full luxury features – such as an entertainment system, full prepacked meals, unlimited beverages, unlimited ticket changes, etc – but these are just luxury items that are already included in the price we are paying.

E.g. Qantas may charge $600 one way to fly to Malaysia, whereas Air Asia only charges $300. However, with the budget airline (Air Asia), you will need to pay additional costs such as $10 for entertainment system, $10 for flight meal, $5 for blanket & eye mask (prices are just a rough idea of what airlines typically charge for these luxury items). The significant difference of $300 allows students and residents of third world countries to be able to enjoy time with their international family and friends.

For those who do not need the luxury items – example, for those who have their own ipods, or for those who would much rather snooze on the plane – will be paying the unnecessary price for the luxury items.

Because of these reasons, Air Asia won Best New Airline in 2008 and Best Airline of the Year in 2009.

The designs on Air Asia planes are super cute as well!

Thanks to Air Asia X #NAPBASAAX, I was given the opportunity to see the Nuffnang Blog Awards in Singapore and was able to watch some of my absolute favourite bloggers win certain awards.

More on Malaysia and Nuffnang Asia Pacific Blog Awards #NAPBAS to come..

I’m alive

Hello!

I’m currently at Melbourne airport waiting for my flight back to Sydney hitch is due in 6 hours!! I am so glad for Wifi and 3G!!!

For those who were unaware, I travelled to Kuala Lumpa Lumpur, Malaysia for a few days to attend the Nuffnang Asia Pacific blog awards kindly sponsored by Air Asia X airlines which I want to talk more about my experience later.

The trip was a short one but with the jam packed activities, it was exhausting.

I met so many of my readers and blog friends from all over the world whom I never thought I would ever be able to meet – and of course, this is all possible.. because of Nuffnang.

Even though I wasn’t at the Blog Awards to collect an award – to see my fellow Australians and my international blogger friends walk up on stage to collect their awards was such an unforgettable and amazing moment. I cant say more congratulations to those who were lucky to become finalists and winners.

Anyhow, I still have many hours to wait at the airport and will most likely just surf the internet now.. But before I go, I really want to thank everyone who came up to me to say Hi and took photos with me – if you could send photos to me on janice@chaigyaru.com I can post them up as well! (^___^)~

Speak to you all from Sydney very soon!!

Ohai!

What is on your Christmas wishlist?

For months now, I’ve owned an Apple iPad 2 that my boss gave to me for business meetings. But ofcourse, being the Apple fanatic I am, I’ve downloaded millions of applications on it, including games, magazines and other productive apps!

Today, I’m going to share with you some of my favourite applications!

One of my favourite applications is definitely twitter and wordpress! I love my social networking and blogging, so these two applications are a must! WordPress isn’t very user friendly though – so if you would like to upload pictures and put them in a way you want them to go, you probably won’t get that.

However that being said, you can easily draft up a blog post and then add pics to it online! I always do that on the trains or when I come up with some random thoughts and it really helps me get blog posts up!

Twitter – I don’t need to explain this one. You use it on your smart phones too, don’t you? Double the size. Double the fun!

Another favourite application of mine is ASOS magazine. It only updates once a month, but when it does.. I’m seriously drooling over the amazing quality the iPad2 produces and the easy finger flip for page turning!! Loves!!!!!

Obviously, one of my absolute favourite apps is the “Camera”. There is no better app than a camera on any electronic device!

But what comes first is an App Xiaxue had blogged about a month or so back! It’s the Makeover!

The Makeover is almost like a liquidifying machine!! It amazes me everytime – but remember to liquidify in proportion! Don’t go overboard!

I did one on the picture I quickly took!

The app is so smart that the only thing you need to do is create 4 points. The outer corners of your eyes and the outer corners of your lips.

Watch it in action.

And then after a few adjustments…

Not completely all well proportioned – but if you take the time to do it slowly, it works really really well!!! Great alternative to quick portraits/selca!

Now if you do not already own an iPad 2, why not treat yourself one for Christmas?? Then you wouldn’t need to be envious about my overseas trips, but you can read my blog from the touch of your fingertips!

Vodafone now offers iPad 2 16GB + 64GB plans for an upfront cost of $0!!

So you can take one home now, surf on the net each and every day – then pay monthly just like a mobile phone!

Depending on which plan package you choose, you receive GBs and GBs of data usage!! You can even upgrade at any point you like!

Check out their plan packages here.

fashion of the day

Yesterday, I had my exam so I finally got a day off work to shop around for Nuffnang Asia Pacific Blog Awards #NAPBAS. I passed my exam with excitement and purchased my dress for NAPBAS.

I haven’t picked it up yet though – because they had to order my size in, but I’m due to pick it up just 3 hours before I fly to Malaysia tomorrow!!!

It was a sunny, but windy afternoon – so I took some snapshots of my fashion of the day.

dusty pink vintage sweater which belongs to my sister, light denim shorts and dusty pink bow flats

I’m wearing another hair piece from Badbarbie today. It is the bun!!! A few shop assistants stopped me to ask about it and I referred them over to Badbarbie. It’s amazing but still quite heavy!

I had to run back to my car and found my hair bun falling lower and lower – as would your real hair! I had to hold my hair up just incase it fell off!

But nonetheless, I really love this hairpiece and would highly recommend it!

I can’t believe I’m off to Malaysia tomorrow! I will remember to take lots of photos and keep you’ll updated on the outcome of the finalists!

Keep safe whilst I’m away. x

Time for more magazine talk!

If you regularly read Australian Magazines such as the fabulous Good Health [for my food bloggies], CLEO, Cosmopolitan [for my fashion and beauty bloggies], and Australian Gourmet Traveller [for my travel bloggies], you would have already discovered that buying magazines every month can get quite time consuming and pricey!

But surfing on the internet for pictures are never enough. I love my blogs, but I also need a piece of my magazines. Sitting infront of the computer screen is never the same as sitting on my bed flipping through sheets and sheets of gorgeous coloured printing. #soundsgeeky

Definitely try to pick up a subscription with Magshop while their Christmas deals are on!

Some of my favourite deals include:

♥ 12 issues of both CLEO and Cosmopolitan for A$99.95!!!
♥ 10 issues of Harpers Bazaar and 12 issues of Madison Magazine for A$99.95

The best part of Magshop is that they even allow “perfect gift” searches. If you are purchasing a gift for a Kris Kringle, you can search on your KK’s age group, gender and general interest, and some magazine suggestions will be produced for you!

Don’t forget that Magshop is also still giving you the chance to win a trip to Hawaii for every order you make on participating titles!!!

Be eligible to win one of 10 fabulous Hawaiian holiday packages valued at over $12,000 each with Magshop’s Christmas competition (link to https://www.magshop.com.au/xmas-2011). Simply subscribe, renew or treat family and friends to any of the 35 participating titles including The Australian Women’s Weekly, Top Gear Australia, Australian House & Garden, Shop Til You Drop, UFC, Money, and many more.

badbarbie

A few weeks I purchased a wig from Badbarbie – my friend Cindy’s webshop. I’ve been looking everywhere to purchase a Priscila wig and I finally found out that she stocks them so I quickly placed an order for 3 wigs!!!

Wigs are something I tend to purchase alot but have no idea how to wear. I’m always in search for the best quality and best looking wigs, but with the simple thought of old men with bald heads and their wigs slipping off their heads – I’ve never ever worn one out. Only for my blog photos.

That’s one of the reasons I love to blog I guess. Gives me a second reason to camwhore with useless items I’ll never wear out.

The wig is actually pretty hard to wear out without styling it somehow, but I think that’s how gyarus pull it off! I’m inclined to continue trying the wigs I have purchased and will continue to keep ya’ll updated!!

sleeping positions

Helloo!!

I’m in the middle of studying for my exam now and procrastinating whilst watching 萬凰之王. How can some women be so evil? I really can’t understand. If anyone else watches this and wants to comment, please do not do not give me any spoilers! I’m only on episode 9!!!!!!

I apologise not vlogging and blogging much lately, but I really have a lot going on in life at the moment!!! I’m trying to prepare for my exam (which is on 14th December – this Wednesday) and also trying to prepare for my trips to Malaysia (from 15th December to 19th December) for #NAPBAS Nuffnang Asia Pacific Blog Awards and my U.S Trip I’ve been so so excited about!

I’ll leave you with my November Beauty Favourites video, which once again, I uploaded quite a few days ago already. wtf. (x___x)

And I’ll also leave you with something very interesting I found last week!

Foetus

Those who curl up in the foetus position are described as tough on the outside but sensitive at heart. They may be shy when they first meet somebody, but soon relax. This is the most common sleeping position, adopted by 41% of the 1,000 people who took part in the survey. More than twice as many women as men tend to adopt this position.

★ ☆ ✰

Log

Lying on your side with both arms down by your side. These sleepers are easy going, social people who like being part of the in-crowd, and who are trusting of strangers. However, they may be gullible.

★ ☆ ✰

Yearner

People who sleep on their side with both arms out in front are said to have an open nature, but can be suspicious, cynical. They are slow to make up their minds, but once they have taken a decision, they are unlikely ever to change it.

★ ☆ ✰

Soldier

Lying on your back with both arms pinned to your sides. People who sleep in this position are generally quiet and reserved. They don’t like a fuss, but set themselves and others high standards.

★ ☆ ✰

Freefall

Lying on your front with your hands around the pillow, and your head turned to one side. Often gregarious and brash people, but can be nervy and thin-skinned underneath, and don’t like criticism, or extreme situations.

★ ☆ ✰

Starfish

Lying on your back with both arms up around the pillow. These sleepers make good friends because they are always ready to listen to others, and offer help when needed. They generally don’t like to be the centre of attention.

★ ☆ ✰

Which sleeping position do you fall in?

I think I’m the Foetus.

It is said that I am tough on the outside and sensitive on the inside. I think it’s true. In fact, I think most women are like this!!!

Mr.CG is definitely the Starfish. He likes to sleep with his back facing up and arms around the pillow. I think his description is right as well. He is very kind at heart and always helping others when needed (only good friends though I guess!). He also does not like to be the centre of attention – and always gives all the attention to me!!

Do you think what the description says about you is true?

A year round present

Advertorial

It’s quickly approaching Christmas – with only 18 days left!!!! I’m counting down by crossing off on my calendar each and every day!!!

Are you always caught up on choosing gifts for your loved ones? I know I am.

As I cross off the dates.. I realise.. how little time I have left to buy gifts…

Traditionally, I would realise that it’s too late by the 20th December and then run out to purchase a gift card or end up with a belated present (tsk tsk).. but this year, I’m going to be more organised. Infact, I’m going to help you organise your Christmas presents too!

Online shopping has not been easier in the past. You can now purchase gifts ranging from clothing, to books, to discount magazine subscriptions, to flowers, through a variety of online stores (by a variety, I probably mean a million online stores!).

But you have to be careful with online shopping.

Tip #1 is to know the online shop well. Do your research and make sure the company is reputable. Check postage prices and delivery times.

Tip #2 is to purchase a gift that does not have an expiry date! It’s always nice to gift someone with a present that is not perishable (e.g. anything but food!). The last thing you want is someone to eat the chocolate block you bought them for Christmas and forget that they ever received a gift from you!

This year, I’m going to be giving my sister a gift for a year! I’m gifting her with a subscription to Australian magazines (she can choose the one she likes most) with Magshop! That means, she will be receiving gifts from me all year round – perfect idea, no? And in reality – after she reads the magazines, I can also read them! Sharing is caring!!

By reading magazines, she can also gain lots of inspiration and blog more fashion posts like she promises on here!! That’s a double plus! Now I’m thinking about all of us – what a perfect present!

Ok, now if you also want to purchase the perfect gift, head over to Magshop and purchase a one-year subscription for your loved ones!

Take a look at Magshop’s Christmas Promotions for lots of deals for this Christmas!!

Be eligible to win one of 10 fabulous Hawaiian holiday packages valued at over $12,000 each with Magshop’s Christmas competition.
